Deputy Director of C4D, LCC, University of the Arts, London
As Deputy Director of C4D a collaboration between LCC, University of the Arts and Cranfield University, Dr. Prendiville is interested in exploring the role of design within science and technology, not just in terms of design engineering product outputs but in terms of how design methods influence and support processes and decision making within science and technology.
Alison Prendiville’s doctoral research investigates service design and marketing within urban mass transit systems and demonstrates how placing an engineering led specification within a service design framework results in a more effective transportation system for both the operator and user. This research was an industry-sponsored project with Thorn Transit Systems.
Her service design background provides a foundation for her current work in the area of product service systems in the area of waste and healthcare; she has a particular interest in the wider role of service design as a driver of change.
