Chair Design Thinking and Sustainability
Parsons The New School for Design
New York, USA

Though my academic background is in philosophy, I have worked in the field of ‘design for sustainability’ since the mid’90s when I was part of the EcoDesign Foundation, a Sydney-based not-for-profit founded by Tony Fry advancing thinking about design-led change toward more sustainable societies. I am now responsible for a new business design graduate program at Parsons, and new urban environmental studies undergraduate degree programs at The New School. My research focuses on socio-political dimensions of service design, particularly where it attempts to decouple use and ownership as a way lowering societal material intensity.
